Awbury Arboretum
In East Germantown in the wonderful city of Philadelphia, there is a nonprofit arboretum known as the Awbury Arboretum. This measure about 55 acres of land and the best thing about this is that you can visit the ground every day for free. This site is believed to be founded in the year 1852. Henry Cope was the one who bought the property and then he had a plan to landscape the area. William Saunders, a well noted architect was the one who gave advice to Cope about the landscaping. There are several private homes in the area until now except the house of Francis Cope. This is now known as the headquarters for the arboretum. The family began establishing the arboretum in the year 1916. When 1984 came, the site became an organization.

The arboretum is an open space site with lots of shrubs and trees in the background. The end result is a beautiful vista that anyone will certainly marvel at. There are several mature trees all around the place including the river Birch and the American Linden. There are also woodland trails and ponds in the Awbury Arboretum. The place has a wonderful setting and you will really feel that you are close to Mother Nature.
The plants particularly the trees are well taken care of by the staff. They are dedicated in preserving and maintaining the loveliness of the site so that the next generations will still be able to appreciate the place.
