This garden is the farmhouse of John Bartram who is known as the first Botanist in America. He is also one of the founders of the American Philosophical Society. This garden measures 45 acres and you can also see here Bartram's home, which was built during the 18th Century. Aside from that, you can view his farm buildings, wildflower meadow, freshwater wetland, river trail and parkland. There is also a water garden and a museum shop within this popular attraction.
Nowadays, the John Bartram Association is the organization that is responsible for the continuous operation of the garden. The Bartram family is also known for their first published catalogue that revolves around American plants. There are three noteworthy trees in this garden including the almost extinct Franklinia, which is a tribute to Benjamin Franklin who is John Bartram's friend. Truly, there is nothing comparable to a Philadelphia travel that includes a visit to the Bartram's Garden.
