Betsy Ross made the first flag for USA. At this house in the year 1776 three members of the secret society, Continental Congress, Robert Morris, George Ross and George Washington asked her to sew the flag. Betsy Ross had an upholstery business. It's believed that during the time of war, she even sewed cloth pouches, to store gunpowder for the Continentals. This house is now a popular tourist attraction where you can learn something about the flag maker and colonial history. It is open daily through April to October from 10 a.m. to 5p.m and closed on Mondays and from October to March.
The entry fee is very nominal-$3 for adults and $2 for children under 12 and students. You can also an audio tour at $5. The daily tour includes meeting the famous Betsy Ross, colonial crafters will show you the lace-making art, and A Soldier's Life will provide you insights of the life of soldier in the Continental army.
