The Philadelphia Museum of Art is among the largest art museums in the States and is located in the west end of Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia. Established in the year 1876 for commemorating the Centennial Exposition, the Pennsylvania Museum and School of Industrial Art, the building was refurbished and renovated in the year 1919. The institution houses more than 200 galleries spanning for nearly 2000 years depicting Egyptian, Roman and Pre-Columbian art. The university loaned Chinese porcelain and Egyptian pieces of art are displayed during special exhibitions.

The art museum also holds a number of contests of which, the current one that is to be held recently is the Photography portfolio competition for the year 2010, which will be containing photos of the various photos making a portfolio to be published and sold.
