Electric Factory Quick Guide - The Oldest and Most Celebrated Concert Venue in Philadelphia
The Electric Factory was opened in 1968 and the first performance took place on 2 Feb, 1968 by Chambers Brothers. However, the building had to close in 1973. Electric Factory again returned at the 421 N. 7th Street between Willow and Spring Garden Streets which is its current location during 1994. And today, it is one of the finest indoor concert venues in the country.
The standing room of this place can accommodate a population up to 3000 people. This also includes the second floor portion at the left hand side of the stage. From here, the spectators get a bonus opportunity of watching a little area of the backstage. However, the topmost levels have seating arrangements such as chairs and benches. These regions are covered with white canopy and are more private. Though the venue is small and often completely filled, it is perfect for ultimate entertainment.
Electric Factory mostly hosts shows in musical genres of rap, heavy metal and rock. Till date, many popular American bands have participated in the concerts. The place has also been a recording venue for many bands including Yellowcard, Lamb of God's, Underoath, The Fray etc.
The place also has a merch booth at the entrance alongside a food booth. Parking facilities are also available near the building. One may also park the vehicle somewhere in the street at nearby parking meters, but it is advisable not to go beyond that as the neighborhood is not very safe. Nonetheless, Electric Factory is one of the cheapest ways of enjoying in Philly.
