
Introduction of Exhibit Galleries in Independence Seaport Museum of Philadelphia
Philadelphia is one of the largest cities in US known for its historic treasures and spell bounding attractions. The Independence Seaport Museum, earlier known as Philadelphia Maritime Museum is located in the Penn's landing complex along the Delaware River in Philadelphia. This museum was founded in the year 1961 by J Welles Henderson and is known for its wide variety of warships including USS Olympia and USS Becuna.
The exhibits displayed in this museum include many maritime artifacts, ship models and full size boats. These exhibits mainly focus on the Port of Philadelphia trade, immigration, ship building and deep sea submersibles. Besides these, it also includes the two most important war ships of United States- USS Olympia and USS Becuna.
When it comes to USS Olympia, it is nations oldest floating steel warship known for being used by Admiral Dewey's during Spanish American war In Manila bay. While Becuna is a classic World War 2 submarine known for fighting battles in South Pacific.
This museum is dedicated to exploring maritime history of the Delaware Bay and tributaries opened in July 1995 after more than 35 years of rich history. It was only in the year 1996 that this museum took up the responsibility of Olympia and Becuna. Both these warships have been declared as National Historic landmarks.
