Specific Plans for Having Fun and Learning in Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts
Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts is not just a museum but also art school located in the Philadelphia which is one of the most populous cities of Penn state. It is established in the year 1805 and now it is the oldest school and art museum of US. It houses the collections and materials like sculptures, paintings of 19th and 20th century depicting the American art history.
The Academy holds collection of modern and contemporary work done by leading American artists and well known faculty of the school. The collections are exhibited in chronological and thematic format in order to display the American art history. The exhibition programs are held annually to showcase the work done by regional artists and academy students. These shows displayed balance art between olden days and present day.
The academy works in collaboration with University of Pennsylvania to allow qualified students to receive BFA degree, Ivy League degree and diploma. The academy offers Bachelors and Masters of Fine Arts program along with Post Baccaluareate Certificate in Graduate Studies. It also provides programs for children and families.
The current museum building is designated as most important part of American architectural heritage and is recognized as National Historic Landmark. It received the National Medal of Arts and is called as leader in fine arts education. The American work is displayed to visitors and future generation of Penn state on rotation basis at two different institutions.
A historic transfer agreement is signed by PAFA with different college's art departments which allow the transfer of liberal arts and studio classes for the benefit of college students. Finally the museum is worth visiting where one can just enjoy the show or buy the collections.
