Morris Arboretum
The Morris Arboretum is a part of the University of Pennsylvania and is known officially as the arboretum of the Pennsylvania Commonwealth. It is situated in the East Northwestern Avenue in Chestnut Hill in the city of Philadelphia. If you will take the Philladelphia travel be sure to remember this place as one of the sites to visit. You will surely love the experience.
The place is called the Morris Arboretum because this has once served as the estate of the couple named John and Lydia Morris in the 1880s. They were both very much into plants and so they began collecting tons of plants from around the world including the ones that were gathered by E.H. Wilson in China around the year 1900.

Because of the care the couple has shown towards the plants, many believe that most of the plants that are still alive in the arboretum came from the original plantings of Mr. Morris. As the popularity of the plants continued, the place opened for public viewing in the year 1933. Nowadays, you will find several types of plants and are said to be over 13,000 species. What's more, the place is surrounded by a very stylish landscape with a touch of Japanese influences.
The place has a winding path for the walkers as well as a stream that flows naturally, a pond for swans, rose gardens and numerous flowers. There is also a glass house with eight sides and is considered as the only Victorian fernery standing today in all of North America. You will definitely want more Philadelphia travel information because of the beauty of the Morris Arboretum site. It always pays to take care of the plants.
