Mummers Museum
An essential part of the Philadelphia travel, the Mummers museum is truly a landmark of the city of Philadelphia. Dedicated to the New Years celebration of Philadelphia, this museum was thrown open in 1976 and has ever since been a place of pride for the locals.
Mummers Museum has always been an important site when it comes to concerts and musicals in the city. A brief look at the events calendar of the place is enough to establish this fact. As a custom, every Thursday evening from May to September, there is free outdoor string band concert at 8 pm. It is open to one and all and the organizers prefer having huge crowds of local and outstation guests. One can sit back, enjoy the music and even tap their feet with the dancers and do the 'Mummers Trout'.

One can call this place a neighborhood museum with a strong party flavor and a place that one can actually really go and enjoy. Sounds of banjo, saxophone, trumpets and merry making Mummers can be heard parading every New Year throughout the street of Philadelphia and this truly sums up the spirit with which the place has been running for the last three decades. Travel to Philadelphia is truly incomplete without a visit to this place.
However, the timings of the place changes with the season and is open only four days a week, that is Wednesday through Saturday. With an entrance fee of merely $3.5 for adults and $2.5 for students and children under 12, a visit to this place will not burn a hole in your pocket, and will truly leave richer in a lot of ways.
While there, do not forget to pick up a souvenir or two for your friends and family from the rather unique gift shop located in the gallery of the museum.
