In Philadelphia, hundreds of outdoor shows, concerts and performances are held every year. Some of the favorite cultural events of the city are mentioned below.

First Friday

More than 40 galleries feature special exhibitions and hold open houses in Old City on the first Friday evening of every month. The event brings together antique and contemporary art collectors, city dwellers and suburban dwellers, aficionados of contemporary and classical design, and performance and theater buffs. Most of the galleries holding First Friday are located at Market and Vine Streets and Front and Third Streets.

Manayunk Arts Festival

This annual festival is Philadelphia's largest outdoor arts and crafts show. The show features above 275 artists from around the country. During this event entertainers perform along the street, retail shops open for visitors to explore, restaurants offer food tasting on the curbside and inside their establishments, and special activities for children are held.

Philadelphia fringe Festival

This event is held each September when the galleries, sidewalks, alleyways, unused buildings and vacant lots of Old City are filled with performing arts. Nearly 300 groups of performing arts, national and international performers are present during this multi day event.

Clef Club

The Philadelphia Clef Club of Performing Arts is the city's first jazz art institution which was formed in 1966. It promotes jazz talents, instrumentalists and educational program like the Preservation Jazz Series and the Youth Summer Jazz Camps. You can watch at the Clef's Club, a number of shows ranging from theater, jazz and comedy.
