Golf

Philadelphia has a large number of well placed golf courses, which never fail to please golfers. Amongst the many golf courses, Cobb's Creek Golf Club is one such golf course that contains two 18-hole tracks and is considered a premier blue-collar course in Philadelphia. In fact, it dates back to a time as far back as 1916 and is a must visit during Philadelphia travel.

Apart from this, another club that may not be as grand as the rest but is still considered a "hidden treasure" by locals, is the Juniata Golf Club. It contains an 18-hole golf course and offers, with its hilly terrain and innumerable trees, a challenging game for any golfer.

Positioned twenty five miles from downtown Philadelphia is the Downingtown Country Club. This country club offers a golf course that is surrounded by the Pennsylvanian countryside and is renowned for its rough, 90-plus bunkers. Not only is it a fine country club styled golf course but its green fees range roughly between $50-$65.

The Mathias Moroze Golf Club, placed by Golf Week 2000 as among the top ten golf clubs in the country, is also amongst the top 200 golf clubs in the world, and is proudly situated in Philadelphia.

On the PGA Tour, the golf tournament IVB-Philadelphia Golf Classic, was played at the Whitemarsh Valley Country Club in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania. This tournament happened in the years 1963 to 1980.

Numerous other golf tournaments like the Philadelphia Open Championship, the Philadelphia Daily News Open, the Philadelphia Inquirer Open, etc. have been held in this region over the years. This is also why Philadelphia travel tips suggest visiting the countless golf courses here.
