Subway
The Philadelphia subway system consists of the Broad Street Subway, the Market-Frankford Subway and the PATCO line to New Jersey. Operated by the South Eastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), it serves more than a million people living in Philadelphia. SEPTA, in itself, is the public authority in Pennsylvania which deals with transportation by rail, bus, subway and bus.
The Broad Street Subway is divided into two parts: The Broad Street Line and the Broad-Ridge Spur. The Broad Street Subway is one of the three "heavy rai rapid-transit" lines. Apart from the Broad Street Subway, the Market-Frankford Subway Line provides its services between the Frankford Transportation Centre and the 69th Street Terminal on both weekdays and weekends.
The Market-Frankford Line consists of two sections as well: The Frankford Elevated and the Market Street Subway. In fact, the Market Street Line's construction began in 1903 and it is locally known as "the el".

People visiting Philadelphia must have enough Philadelphia travel information before travelling to this beautiful city as although navigating is easy, the subway system can confuse inexperienced tourists. While the Market-Frankford Line basically runs East-West along Market Street, the Broad Street Line runs North-South, although the latter does have a side spur that runs to Chinatown.
The Trolleys are also known as the Subway system but travel mainly underground through Center City. They appear above the ground in West Philadelphia where they head towards the suburbs.
Philadelphia also has an Airport Line which provides links to each of Philadelphia International Airport's five terminals. This line provides the most economical, quick transportation and Philadelphia travel tips encourage tourists to take this line. It takes approximately twenty minutes to reach the terminals and costs less than five dollars!
