
Profile of Education Programs offered by Awbury Arboretum in Philadelphia
At the Germantown of Philadelphia lies a historical district called the Awbury Arboretum. This is where you can see all sorts of buildings and houses that became the first suburbs in Philadelphia. Now, it is a popular site for weddings as well as other kinds of public events because of the scenic landscapes that the Awbury Arboretum has to offer.
But apart from that, there are also a couple of education programs that are offered here at the Awbury Arboretum as well. This includes the Field Studies and the Summer Nature Program. Both of these education programs were created to enlighten the minds of the participants about the environment, culture, and history of the city.
Field Studies
There are two main lessons in the Field Studies education program. First is about the history and culture while the other one tackles about the environment. Children of all ages would certainly appreciate being one with nature as they explore all the trees, insects, and recycling can affect the world they live in today. On the other hand, they would also discover the contributions of the early Native Americans that lived in Philadelphia years ago.
Summer Nature Program
Students get to learn more about nature in very interesting ways. Starting from the first week of the summer program up to the last day, various activities were done including treasure hunting, solving mysteries, art projects, and discovering animals that are trying to hide through camouflage and imitation. With all the fun-filled plan for the rest of the summer, students will surely learn and enjoy at the same time.
