
The Edgar Allan Poe National Historic Site
The Edgar Allan Poe National Historic Site is a preserved home which is named after one of its occupants-Edgar Allan Poe-a renowned American author. It's located in the Spring Garden North 7th Street. Out of the different homes in which Edgar resided, this is the only one left standing. Being a major tourist attraction, there are a number of hotel Philadelphia PA that have been erected nearby for instance the Holiday Inn, Historic district and the Hampton Inn Philadelphia.

History of the site
Edgar Allan Poe lived in the home for one year although he lived in Philadelphia for a period of 6 years. It's while in the home, that he wrote most of his famous literal pieces. The site was, however, authorized in 1978 when it officially became open to public. There are various activities that are conducted at the site including audiovisual presentations and ranger-guided tours. The tours usually have a limit of 25 people. Most of those touring the site are usually school children or general group visitors.
Other information
The site is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 9.00am to 5.00pm. It's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and on public holidays.
