
Visitors Guide to Rodin Museum in Philadelphia - Appreciate the Largest Collection of Auguste Rodin's Works
Located in Philadelphia, Rodin Museum contains the world's largest collection of sculptor, Auguste Rodin's works. The museum was a gift to the city of Philadelphia by the movie and theatre tycoon, Jules Mastbaum. Opened to the public in the year 1929, this museum has over 120 sculptures done by the artist including that of bronze.
Some of which include 'The Thinker' which is deemed as the most famous sculpture in the world, 'Eternal Springtime'; which deals with human love, 'The Burghers of Calais'; Rodin's most heroic tribute. Auguste Rodin also dedicated one of the finest monuments to a few French intellectuals later on which is also reflected in his works; 'Apotheosis of Victor Hugo' and then the concluding creation of his life which was 'The Gates of Hell'. Auguste Rodin is a French sculptor who popularized the Renaissance sculpture and monumental public sculpture during his time so much so that many established him as the greatest sculptor of all time.
About the Museum's Garden - It is said that over 70,000 people annually visit this museum to get to know the sculptor's works but also the garden which surrounds this museum. This particular garden was designed by Jacques Greber. There is a certain tranquillity that surrounds this garden and the reflecting pool in the garden.
To enter this museum, $5 per person is made compulsory. Also free guided tours are given to the visitors from 1:30 p.m. every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Apart from that, there are also facilities like restrooms and wheelchair entrance for public disposal. Even photography within the premises are allowed.
